Dustin Johnson gets a special invitation to the PGA Championship

Dustin Johnson of Liv Golf was given a special invitation to next week’s PGA Championship at the Quazul Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The past five master winners are eligible to play in the PGA Championship. This means that former world No. 1 Johnson exemptions from his 2020 victory at Augusta National are gone.

However, according to the eligibility requirements for the PGA Championship, the PGA of America (a national governing body, organizer and key organizer) “reserves the right to invite additional players” who have not met other eligibility criteria.

Johnson missed a cut at Master last month and has recorded two top-10 finishes this season in seven LIV golf events so far. The two-time major winner, who finished runner-up in the PGA Championship in 2019 and 2020, will be one of 16 LIV members on the 156 field next week.

Other LIV golfers on the field include Bryson Deccanbaugh, John Larm, Sergio Garcia, Tyrrell Hutton, Brooks Coepka, Patrick Reed, Cameron Smith and Joaquin Neiman.

The PGA Championship will be held from May 15th to May 18th.
