Scott Reading gave Toprak Razgatlioglu a harsh warning about moving to MotoGP.
The World Superbike Champion is currently evaluating whether to switch championships next season.
Razgatlioglu is of interest to Honda and Yamaha of MotoGP and has done a big job to keep him on BMW.
However, Reading insists that the grass is not necessarily green.
“Toprack is the most powerful rider in this paddock. He’s a great rider and he’s extremely talented,” Reading told Gpone.
“His style could fit into the realm of MotoGP, and I think he should have gone there before.
“He made a lot of money and won here at WorldSBK, so it would be a good move for him.
“But MotoGP is difficult because if you don’t prove yourself within two years, you’re out!”
Reading spent five years as a leading MotoGP rider for Honda, Ducati and Aprilia.
He rediscovered his top form when he entered World BK at Ducati in 2020.
His warning about the more brutal environment of MotoGP is interesting when it comes to Razgatlioglu.
The Turkish genius is already 28 years old, older than many young talents who have recently been promoted to MotoGP.
There is a theory that when Pirelli becomes the official tire supplier, he can wait until 2027 to enter MotoGP. Razgatlioglu already races with Pirellis on Worldsbk, so he can get an advantage over riders who are transitioning from Michelins.
Razgatlioglu confirmed last week at Cremona that he is negotiating with various brands about his next step.
However, talking to MotoGP makers is believed that Razgatlioglu can seduce BMW to make a huge offer to stay at WorldSBK.
Razgatlioglu will follow Nicolo Brega, who will surpass WorldSBK’s ranking after the weekend’s Cremona round.
