Billy Horschel will undergo hip surgery next week, he said Tuesday.

Horseshell, number 24 in the official world golf rankings, withdrew from the Zurich Classic of New Orleans Team Event on the PGA Tour due to an injury two weeks ago.

He decided to undergo surgery in Colorado.

“This is an unfortunate situation where there are many great events left on the calendar, but this is a precaution,” Horschel (38) said in a video posted to X.

Horschel, who played for the President’s Cup team in 2022, has two top 10 in 12 events this year, and is 16th in the US Rider Points ranking.

The top six players on the points list following the August 17th BMW Championship will form the team, with Keegan Bradley closing out his 12-player team with six captain picks.

The Ryder Cup is scheduled for September 26th-28th at Beth Page Black in New York.
