West Ham will be looking at a busy summer to bounce back from this season’s horror show in the Premier League, but there may be a very important departure before the signature comes.

Lucas Paketa is expected to finish his time at West Ham this summer. Brazil International is undergoing a difficult season amid ongoing personal issues, and therefore it has been reported that he wants to change the landscape.

And it is said that negotiations are on the brink of progress as Paketa’s next move will bring him back to his hometown.

As RTI eSporte reported (via SportWitness), Flamengo is approaching a contract to sign Paketa this summer. The Brazilian club wants to complete the deal before flying to the US for the 2025 Club World Cup.

Paketa has accepted a return to Brazil and talks have reportedly made quick progress in recent weeks. However, for now, it is expected that players will not make a final decision until they discover the results of the FA investigation into alleged spot correction crimes.

Flamengo believes that Paketa will avoid being punished, so he wants to make a deal as soon as possible. Although West Ham accepts sales, the report notes that Brazilians are seeking loan agreements with options purchase clauses.

This is unlikely to suit West Ham, which definitely prefers to raise funds to try and sign an alternative. For now, it is still unknown whether Paketa will leave.
