Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev agreed to their highly anticipated date of conflict. In fact, they agreed to two dates.
Last month, when rumors of “DDP” seriously injured began flying across the internet, he made his next title defense against the undefeated Chechen monsters in danger.
However, after a few days of sweating, Du Plessis showed up online, uncovering all the reports and revealing that his fight with Chimaev is coming sooner than we think.
“So we have a date,” the real-life middleweight champion said when he appeared on the SIAS Du Plessis show. “But we have two date possibilities. I’ve already agreed to both. A lot of people say, ‘Is this year?’ Yes, it’s not far away.
“I was, OK, and I just left it for a week, and I was like, ‘OK, everyone had their fun, now you’ll all look stupid.’ We already agree to the date.
“So I’m just waiting for a contract, but that’s the battle that’s going on. It’s going to happen in the next few months, up to four months. It’s going to happen these days. Nothing will be signed, but I’ve already agreed to the date.
Dricus du Plessis is ready to prove he is the best ever for “Borz”
DDP’s earned a decisive unanimous decision victory over Shawn Strickland at UFC 312 in February.
Chimaev has yet to be officially announced as the next challenger for the champion, but after Robert Whitaker’s stunning first round finish in Abu Dhabi, it makes no more sense than “stills” vs. ‘Bors.
“His wrestling is world class,” Duplesis said of Chimaev. “That’s incredible. But Israeli Adesanya is impressive, right? So is Sean Strickland’s boxing. World class. Adesanya’s impressive world class. His kickboxing record speaks for itself.
“Yes, I think his wrestling is incredible, but when the night comes, it’s not about teaching him a lesson, but about doing whatever I have to do to prove that I’ve been the best of all time and prove that” (H/T MMA Fighting).
