Jeremy Stevens breaks silence on a failed UFC homecoming and turns his eyes on the future
As we’ve covered, the fight against Jones was not Steven’s plan. Instead, he suffered a rather clear unanimous decision loss to Welsman.
This loss does not seem to undermine Stephens’ spirit at all. A few days after the event in Des Moines, he took him to Instagram to express his gratitude to his hometown fans and turned his eyes to the future.
“Another sold out Wells Fargo Center,” wrote Stevens. “This is second place this year. First up was the UFC, BKFC. After four years away from the UFC, eight weeks to prepare, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to give away my hometown of Des Moines in Iowa.
“Y’all appears and appears and I am forever grateful,” he added. “I know, we’re not finished.”
Heading to the Des Moines card, Stevens reveals that he had only signed a one-fight contract with the UFC. It is not clear whether he will be invited after his defeat. But BKFC certainly welcomes him with pleasure. He never won a major title in MMA, but he recorded a very impressive victory. Highlights on his resume include the defeats of Rafael dos Anjos, Darren Elkins, Gilbert Melendez, Doo Hui Choi and Josh Emmett. He is a huge asset for the promotion of naked knuckles, especially if he can set up a fight with “Platinum” Perry.
