The Golden State Warriors are about to enter the challenging path ahead without Stephen Curry growing significantly.
After beating the second-placed Houston Rockets in a tough seven-game battle in the opening round of the 2025 NBA playoffs, the Dove’s magical postseason run is at great risk with the best players coming out.
Stephen Curry maintained left hamstring tension in the first quarter of the Golden State Warriors’ first quarter over the Minnesota Timberwolves. It was then announced that he would not be able to come back, and fans were left nervous as he finished the night with 13 points in 13 minutes.
As announced, Curry is about to be on the sidelines for a week after MRI just revealed he is suffering from Grade 1 hamstring strains. He is expected to miss the next three games.
The Warriors need to take a big step among key contributors other than Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green.
Buddy Heald already answered the phone when he pulled his “best Stephen Curry impression” to lead the team’s Game 1 victory.
Meanwhile, Pat Spencer was solid in the 11-minute play he received since Curry’s premature birth in Game 1, which was praised by Festus Ezeri, who was told as a temporary Warriors replacement to fill the Curry’s void.
Another important warrior, leaning towards taking away the additional burden of responsibility from the looming absence of Curry, was Brandin Posiemsky.
For Kerr, the promising Golden State Guard is simply built for these key moments.
“This guy is a gamer,” Kerr said of Posiemskis across NBC Sports Bay Area. “He’s always in the right place, he’s thrust his nose there and constantly rebound.
“He’s just driving him to win. I think he’ll settle. The last couple’s game, he struggled a bit with his shots, but this is all part of the playoffs.
“I think Brandin will be a big part of what’s going forward.”
After enduring an early season of struggle, Poziemsky regained his footing when he reappeared as one of the key cogs of the Dub.
Podziemski reded himself later this year, and his play is undoubtedly very important to the Golden State. Teammate Draymond Green likened him to La Lakers star Austin Reeves.
He struggled in Game 1 and Minnesota with a terrifying three-point performance with a 1-7 shooting in 29 minutes, but the Warriors continue to rely on what Posiemski can bring to the table.
His ability to play at both ends made him the perfect backcourt mate for curry. Golden State is hoping to do more on the way back from curry.
Faced with a deep, talented T-wolves team led by Anthony Edwards, the Warriors will need full effort to beat them and advance to the conference finals. And that certainly involves Posiemsky taking this opportunity to stand up.
