A new commercial from home supply company Rona is Donkey Sanctuary in Canada Because of the obstructive and despicable depiction of animals.
The advertisement discusses the work that contractors and construction workers suffer from bad, calling the failed work “middle.” The CGI donkey listens – and here the commercial gets strange – the animal only has its head, neck and two back legs. Get a “mid” joke? Is it interesting? Not so many, says some viewers (including this author).
when I was asked CTV News Due to her reaction, Janine Holman, executive director of Donkey Sanctuary in Canada, said, “It actually felt quite unbelievable and terrified. I couldn’t believe my eyes in what I was seeing.”
The nonprofit based in Puslin, Ontario currently houses more than 100 donkeys and donkey hybrids. Holman accuses the commercial of being mean to horses. “Essentially, they took the donkeys and then created the disabled creature,” Holman told the news outlet.
The sad-looking CGI donkey hobs along the ads, and we hear humans half-joking, but ignore the fact that in real life donkeys are intelligent animals and not “stubborn” creatures of lore. Instead, donkeys are hardworking beasts from around the world, including war-torn sites such as Gaza. Donkeys (as with all horses) can also be victims of abuse at the hands of unkind owners. So the sanctuary of Puslin and others like it is an unfortunate need.
According to CTV News Article, neither Rona nor Courage Inc. commented on the criticism ahead of the deadline, not the advertising agency that created the location. (And for an example of a really cool CGI donkey that doesn’t get in the way. Kicking horse coffee ads! )
