Do you have a female MMA “Honeymoon”?

In “The Fighter vs. The Writer” on Mmafighting.com, Matt Brown shared his belief that expectations for female MMA fights have been declining over the years.

“I think it was like a honeymoon,” Brown told the fighter and the writer. “When the female MMA first entered, everyone was very excited, and like your average person watching the main event on a Saturday night, most of the fan volume is uninformed people.

“After the honeymoon period disappeared, I think everyone started realizing that they weren’t that great fight. That’s all.”

As mentioned earlier, the next UFC women’s title fight will take place at UFC 315 in Montreal this Saturday. UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko puts her money in danger against Manon Fiorot. Some fans and experts believe the title fights have the potential to be challenging.

As Shevchenko passes Fiorot, the potential superfight chatter between “Bullet” and Zhang Weili of UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion resurfaces. Many believe this is the biggest fight in the female MMA, except for the possibility that Amanda Nunez has returned to face Kaila Harrison. Of course, Harrison will need to win the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship from Juliana Pena at UFC 316.
