Ayman Zajabi has the biggest victory of his MMA career, beating former champion Jose Aldo in a brutal round-trip war at UFC 315 in Montreal.
After a relatively late start with both fighters, Zahabi seemed to have found timing at the final minute. Aldo landed some hard shots on his body, but Zahabi’s pressure showed his confidence growing every second, especially in the second half of the opening stanza.
The second stanza was fairly competitive, but Zahabi landed the best strike of the round, connecting to his right hand to get a clear response from the former featherweight king.
Aldo rocked Zahabi and landed his knee in the middle, crashing down on the canvas, and things were really picked up in the third round. “Junior” poured it and looked for a big finish, but Zahabi survived the onslaught and returned to his feet.
Aldo tires himself, allowing Zahabi to make an epic comeback, bringing Aldo on the mat and lights up the former champion with a brutal elbow that Aldo pours blood from his head. Unfortunately, Zahabi couldn’t get a finish, but the third onslaught was enough to win the third judge scorecard.
