Liverpool is reportedly interested in signing athletic club Bilbao midfielder Mikel Jauregizer at the end of the season.

The 21-year-old has been a key player in La Liga’s outfit this season, and he has been impressed with his performance over the past few months. The talented defensive midfielder was reportedly on Liverpool’s radar and was able to move in the summer.

According to a report via Fichajes, Liverpool is looking to introduce quality defensive midfielders in the summer, and they are keen on Spanish midfielders. Jauregizar is currently considered one of Spain’s best young midfield talents, and he could be the next big breakout star in his country.

Liverpool can use Mikel Jauregizar

The player is likened to Manchester City’s Star Rodri due to his playing style.

Liverpool desperately needs a quality defensive midfielder, and the 21-year-old could be the ideal acquisition for them. Wataru End was past his peak and he was able to sell this summer. The Japanese stars also want to leave the club.

He protects the back four and helps to get the ball for his side. His arrival also allows creative players to run with more freedom. He averages 2.5 tackles per game this season.

He has signed a contract with the Spanish club until 2027, and Liverpool hopes to negotiate a reasonable deal for him. However, athletic club Bilbao is hoping to extend his contract. It remains to be seen whether players can be persuaded to sign a new deal. If Liverpool can get the deal done, it will be a solid long-term investment for them.
