Jose Aldo says he didn’t take part in the UFC 315 matchup with Aiemann Zahabi Healthy.

Aldo and Zajabi shared an octagon inside the Bell Centre in Montreal. The match went far and Zahabi was awarded a unanimous decision victory. After the fight, Aldo announced his retirement from the pro MMA competition.

After all, the legend of MMA had medical problems before the fight.

In an interview with UFC Brazil, Jose Aldo revealed that, and then the infection has almost derailed plans to compete in UFC 315 (via MMAFighting).

“This fight was tough,” Aldo said. “I had a muscle cleft in my arm, I forgot my name in my belly. There were a lot of problems. I had a lot of virus infection, lots of things.

Aldo later revealed that he had been considering resigning before UFC 315.

“I was already talking with (coach) ‘Dede’ (Pedel Neilas) and (Aldo’s wife) Vivienne (Pereira). “I think that’s the way of thinking about getting in there. I’m not saying I was full of it, but to see that I really have to cross the other side. I always demand a lot of myself, but now I want to enjoy my family, be a father, have kids at school. That’s what I want to do.”

Aldo is already inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. His legacy has long been sealed, but he remained competitive all the way to the end of his career. Many even believe that the former featherweight ruler should have raised his hand against Zahabi.
