The main event of UFC 315 had a major impact not only on the welterweight division, but also on the 155 pound weight class. Muhammad’s success in title defense would likely mean a showdown between UFC lightweight champion Islam Makachev and Iliatopria. However, following Maddalena’s title victory, the doors are open for Makhachev to try double-champ status.

Pimblett competes in the lightweight division and wonders how the UFC 315 headliners could have an impact on his future.

Pimblett rates Maddalena vs. Makhachev

Paddy Pimblett shared his immediate reaction to Jacques de La Maddarena’s victory over Beral Muhammad on his YouTube channel. He briefly discussed how the potential matchup between Madalena and Islamic Makachev would unfold.

“Della vs Islam, he showed that he has a good takedown defense there, but Islam is not another beast, isn’t it?

In terms of how this will affect the immediate future of lightweight pinbullets, “baddy” is intriguing the possibilities.

“Now let’s see what happens in my department,” Pinblett said. “Who’s going to fight for the belt and who’s going to get it? It could have a big impact on my career.”

The footage shows Maddalena appearing after a victory over Muhammad by calling UFC CEO Dana White. When the newly-built UFC welterweight champion asked White if he was facing Makhachev next, the UFC boss replied, “We understand this.”

Makhachev and Muhammad are teammates, so a victory in “Remember the Name” would have slowed the quest for 155-pound champion Welterweight Gold. With the door open for Makhachev to try his goals, we can wonder if we are seeking a title vacancies or if we are participating in the lightweight interim championship.
