Gigi Dall’igna: “We need to work together to return a smile to Pecco Bagnaia’s face.”

Ducati was a huge favorite on the weekend of France’s Motogupu to surpass Honda’s 22-win streak from 1997 to 1998.

However, Sunday’s disruption put that ambition on the ice, with Mark Marquez’s best Desmosedgic crossing the line in second place, over the nearly 20-second drift of a shock-home victory by LCR Honda’s Johann Zarco.

Ducati Corse general manager Gigi Dall’igna looks back on his latest turbulent race LinkedIn Post, “In particular, in the first part, it’s completely crazy and interrupted by uncertain weather, bike changes and constant ups and downs of crashes.

Ducati’s winning streak was shattered by his first defeat in over a year, but he congratulated Zarco, the rider who revived his career in the satellite seat after splitting from KTM.

“…If (surprise) makes the most of the perfect ride in wet to ensure the victory that is certainly deserved: Congratulations on Heartfelt Johan!”

Turning to his factory riders Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia, Dor Dina praised the Spaniard’s decision to settle second, rather than trying to corner the flying Zarco.

“I think Mark’s performance is an excellent race that was done without unnecessary risk. A very difficult challenge managed like a champion will be rewarded with valuable points after his direct rival crashes.

“It was his most advantageous Sunday. Not only did he consider the ever-changing circumstances of the race, but he could not have done anything more because of the skills of the ultimate winners who made a difference on Sunday.”

Ducati admits “big disappointment” to Pecco Bagnaia

However, on the other side of the garage there was a “big disappointment”. Bagnaia continued to struggle due to the emotions of the front end, suffering from the first DNF of the season by crashing in the sprint.

The Italians made the right tactical decision to stay on wet tires prior to the Grand Prix reboot, with Marquez and others pitting for the Drying. However, when he was taken away by his former teammate Enea Bastianini in the first cicne, it counted nothing.

Bagnaia ranked 16th.

“For Pecco, it was a huge disappointment, and even more so, given the chosen strategy (starting with WETS), which he appears to have seen him among his leaders, if not because of the unfortunate crash caused by mistakes that were not his own mistakes.

“The weekend began with a big promise on Friday, but then became mercilessly negative. The fact remains that we must put our efforts into solving this situation and bringing a smile back to Pecco’s face.”

Finally, Dall’igna highlighted the groundbreaking weekend of Gresini Rookie Fermin Aldeguer.

“After the same results obtained in Saturday’s sprint, I close my high notes by celebrating Aldegure’s great race and his first podium in the premier class, which is the beginning of a long series of rookies that we firmly believe in.

Mark Marquez headed for the next round after Silverstone, leading his brother Alex Marquez 22 points.
