When the Boston Celtics showed openness to potential deals, Christaps Porzingis quickly emerged as a leading candidate.
Latvian big man has been visibly stumped and unavailable throughout the 2025 playoffs after missing out on most of his championship runs last season.
The Eastern Conference semi-final against the New York Knicks only heightened speculation about his future in Boston, as the Celtics found themselves on 1-3 holes.
Kristaps Porzingis’ performance in this series is nothing but disastrous. He has not played more than 24 minutes in any game and has totaled 20 points and 16 rebounds in four contests.
Most surprising, he failed to score a single field goal in two games. Former Celtics guard Jefftigue was not on Porzingis’ future.
Speaking on his Club 520 podcast, he said: “Porzingis is in the trading block. Porzingis is gone.
NBA analyst Zach Lowe has repeated similar sentiments on the podcast, suggesting that Porzingis will become a mobile birth for Boston this offseason.
Lowe was particularly critical of the center’s performance against New York, noting that in Game 4 he only scored 24 minutes to seven points on the field.
“He looked terrible throughout the series. He can’t take a shot from two or three,” Lowe said honestly.
Since joining the Celtics in trade last season, Porzingis has been a key component of their success.
During the regular season, he averaged an impressive 19.5 points and 6.8 rebounds, shooting a career-high 41.2% from the 3-point range.
However, his recent struggle has many analysts who believe that the Celtics can certainly replace his production with another player that offers better availability.
With Boston facing exclusion, Porzingis couldn’t make an impact when most people most likely sealed his fate in the franchise, regardless of the outcome of this series.
