NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson drives the IndyCar modified two-seater on the Indianapolis 500 with NFL great Tom Brady in the back seat.

Johnson will lead the parade lap ahead of the 109th run of the Indy 500 on May 25th, promoting what was called the “fastest seat in the sport.”

The 49-year-old is best known for his stock car career, winning record seven titles in the Cup Series, but was awarded Rookie of the Year in 2022 in the Indy 500 with Chip Ganasi.

“I love the Indy 500,” Johnson said. “There’s energy and excitement around the ‘500’. This is not what I have experienced before. Certainly, the pre-race ritual was the ultimate racing experience I had outside the car.

“I’m excited to be part of the program and be able to see the stands in full again. I’m extremely honored to be back and share this experience with another seven-time champion.”

Johnson gives Brady the opportunity to experience the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway just before the IndyCar Blue Reband race begins.

Brady recorded seven Super Bowl titles and was named Super Bowl MVP (most worthy player) on five different occasions.

The quarterback will join a long list of celebrities to ride in two-seater indie cars, including Lady Gaga, Diplo, John Bon Jovi, Mark Wahlberg and Sim Liu.

Following the Indy 500, Johnson will fly to Charlotte to take part in the Coca-Cola 600, the longest race on this year’s Cup Schedule.

He retired from the full-time NASCAR competition in 2020, but he continues to participate in some races with Legacy Motor Club, co-owned with Richard Petty, Murray Gallagher and Nighthead Capital Management.
