Kendrick Perkins has made his thoughts clear about which players the San Antonio Spurs should draft.

After years of being stuck in mediocre, the San Antonio Spurs have been blessed with incredible luck over the past three years.

The organization drafted Victor Wenbagnama using the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. They followed suit by choosing Stephon Castle in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Both players have an incredible ceiling as they won the Rookie of the Year Award of the Year. Spurs’ luck continues to congratulate them as they scored the second overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Duke’s Cooper Flag is considered the No. 1 pick in this draft, but there are plenty of other players in the class.

Many expect the Spurs to use the pick with Rutgers’ Dylan Harper. But former NBA player Kendrick Perkins wants his team to choose Tre Johnson. TreJohnson feels that Khris Middleton has similar skills.

“If the Spurs decide to keep the pick…Tre Johnson is the number two guy. He fits well with Wenby and the castle!Tre reminds me of a lot of Chris Middleton.”

If what Perkins claims is true, Johnson can have a sensational ceiling. After all, Middleton was the deputy commander of Giannis Anteto Compo in the 2021 NBA Championship run, the Milwaukee Bucks’ NBA Championship run.

With the class of 2025 featuring talented and talented prospects, it matches well with the Spurs building a younger core around Wenbagnama.

In that case, they could have chosen a talented young player who could take years to develop, but in the long run they could help spur the game.

However, another pass the Spurs can take is to trade the second pick. why? Well, they landed the Superstars in the offseason, allowing Wemby to enter Win-Now mode as Cornerstone Player.

In this case, he is likely to be the most tradeable player on the roster now, so he needs a way to say goodbye to De’aaron Fox. Either way, the Spurs are in a good position and could end the playoff drought next season.
