Du Plessis will defend his middleweight title in the main event of UFC 319 against Khamzat Chimaev. It was a highly anticipated match and has been rumored for a long time. However, ahead of the August 16th fight in Chicago, Imabov announced he was a backup fighter, and duplesis jokingly claimed he was facing the Frenchman.

“I think I’m fighting Nassoldeen’s Imabov right now,” Duplesis wrote in his Instagram story.

Du Plessis’ comments excavate a small amount of Chimaev, who had to withdraw from the battle for a variety of reasons or be removed from the battle. Chimaev has been fighting twice since September 2022, and in that time there have been three fights.

Du Plessis jokingly thinks that Chimaev will emerge from the battle of UFC 319, but Chimaev doesn’t have to retreat and can finally see this battle happen.

Dorius du Plessis does not consider Khamzat Chimaev to be Boogeyman

Dricus du Plessis began to hint at the fight of Khamzat Chimaev after defeating Sean Strickland for the second time.

However, Du Plessis claims that Chiamev is not the boogeyman he once considered.

“People think of Kamza as this boogeyman. That’s true. I don’t. I don’t see it. To me, I only see one thing. It’s about doing good things to my legacy. It could make my legacy even better.”

“He’s really hard to deal with the beginning of the fight, but so is me. “It’s 100% of the time, if he can last that long. You have to know if he wants to come out or not. I’m still going to be there. I’m ready to kill him, like I was there first.
