In building a smash hit five-match test series against the UK, BCCI revealed the Power Pack India team to tour England for three important first class matches on May 16th.
It is said that the selection of the India A team was not a smooth task. The changes to the IPL 2025 schedule due to the India-Pakistan conflict forced Indian selectors to call. The IPL 2025 playoffs were running until June 3rd, so there were plenty of chops and changes behind closed doors.

The BCCI had ordered national selectors to select only players who are likely to be out of the IPL 2025 playoff contest. The selected players will depart for the UK on May 25th, with Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill and inform batter Sai Sudalsan joining the team ahead of their second match against the England Lions.

A source close to the development said, “Due to a lot of confusion, BCCI advised the selectors to choose players and teams that are likely to be in the IPL 2025 playoff teams or compete with them.
Karnnare named after the A-Team of the England Tour
Meanwhile, after a historic triple-century with the UK in 2016, Karun Nair, once hailed as India’s next intermediate giant, has returned to style with a national scheme. Nair was selected for the team for the UK tour in India after an incredible domestic season.
He played a key role in Vidarbha’s Ranji Trophy 2024-25 Triumph, earning 863 runs averaged at nearly 54 years old. He was also impressed by his English status, scoring 736 runs in 14 innings for Northamptonshire, including the second century. His return comes when India is looking for someone to step up after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s retirement.

Apart from Nair, another consistent performer of domestic cricket, Abhimanyu Easwaran, was chosen, and India was named captain against the England Lions. Other notable names on the team are Deputy Captains Yashasvi Jaiswar, Ishan Kishan and Durf Jurel, who was appointed by Sulfaraz Khan.

The Indian bowling attack featured Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, Harshit Rana and Hirsch Dubee, the best bowlers of the recent range season. Uncap players like Manav Suthar, Tanush Kotian, Anshul Kamboj and Tushar Deshpande, as well as experienced names like Khaleel Ahmed and Ruturaj Gaikwad, have also found teams on the tour of England in India.
This tour is a great opportunity for players to impress the selectors and win the main team spot in the five-match test of five matches against England from June 20th. Before this test series, India A will be playing two games from May 30th to June 2nd.
