Newcastle United wants to do one thing this summer. That’s to make sure Alexander Isaac is still part of their team as the summer transfer window closes.
The Swedes enjoy yet another fruitful campaign in the Northeast, and by securing Champions League football, Eddie Howe’s outlook is never harmed at all, at least for another season.
Magpies have a rich history that is directed towards the towering, magnificent center throughout their history. From Hughie Gallacher to Jackie Milburn. From Malcolm MacDonald to Alan Shearer. All generations of Newcastle supporters have the privilege of seeing the right number of nine leading the club’s line.
Since Shearer’s retirement, things have looked bleak at that front for several years. That was until Isak joined Toon in the summer of 2022 at a rate in the £63 million region.
This was a club record fee, but over the past three seasons, former Borussia Dortmund Starlett has more than repaying the faith presented to him by Hau.

It was a major statement of intent by Hau to bring Isaac to the club, especially as the club was considering playing in the Champions League.
The injury limited him to just 27 appearances during his maiden campaign at St. James Park, but he still scored 10 Premier League goals while chipping with three assists.
Last season, Magpies took part in the group stage of the European Premier Club Competition. Isak may have achieved a lonely goal in that campaign, but his overall tally of 25 was the most he recorded in a single season at the club level.
The Swedish hitman is not someone who is happy with its output.
At the time of writing, the 25-year-old has discovered that he has 27 netting in all competitions, but the striker offers this Newcastle side more than just a goal.
In fact, compared to his Premier League peers throughout 2024/25, ISAK ranks in the top 3% (47.7%) in percentage success, top 10% of touches in the offensive penalty area (6.28) and top 15% of goal-creating actions per 90 (0.47).
Adding to the fact that he recorded six assists for Toon in the league this semester, it proves how much he developed his game.
If Newcastle qualifies for the Champions League, Howe decides to reach the knockout stage. But in order to do so, he will have to spend this summer on bidding to improve his team.

Anthony Gordon may be the source of Howe’s main goal and support from the wings, but it’s clear that taking the club to the next level requires another top talent.
According to the Daily Mail, the Magpie sends a scout to monitor Dortmund’s senses, and Jamie Gitens has reported a £50 million release clause.
If a club is unable to qualify for the Champions League next season, this price will fall and open the door for some clubs to make an offer.
There is no doubt that he wants to play at the top level of European competition. That means Howe is eager to see his team finish in the top five.
If so, signing a talent like Gitens would be a big statement of intent. Plus, the young winger will also be a dream-like signature for Isaac.
Why Newcastle must sign Jamie Gittens
Nico Kovac began his tenure in Dortmund, so it is clear that Gitens is not fully fitted with his tactical plans.
This means that if he could move into the summer and Hau has the necessary funds, it is a deal that must be a top priority for the club.
The British have already played over 100 competitive matches for the German Giants, scoring 17 goals and earning 14 assists in the process.
Like before his fellow countrymen Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham, Gittens could certainly become the next large British talent to leave Dortmund to move abroad.
After scoring the first Champions League goal of his career in November 2022, Statman Dave welcomed Winger as “Wonder Kid” and was difficult to discuss.
Since then, he has moved from strength to strength using Dortmund as a potential stepping stone for his move into the Premier League.
Although his display has not been expected since Kovac took charge, Gittens still ranks in the top 1% in successful take-ons (3.58) and in the top 9% in progressive carry (5.49 per 90) compared to his top 5 league peers in Europe.
These statistics show that the young man is very effective at defeating his man and bringing the ball to the final third. That’s why he can become Isaac’s dream.
He also created six major opportunities on Germany’s top flights, averaging 0.7 key passes per game. Again, there’s more evidence of why he’s going to be an excellent signing for ISAK next season.
The most important aspect to Hau is that Giten still has a lot to do. He is by no means a completed article. Playing with stars such as Bruno Guimarè and Isaac only helps him take the next step in his career.
