Kayla Harrison and Julianna Peña are set to face off in the highly anticipated battle for the UFC title. Both athletes bring impressive qualifications to the Octagon, but Harrison believes she has distinct advantages in all but one area.
Kayla Harrison is ready to show the difference between “good and great” with Juliana Peña
Two-time Olympic gold medalist in judo and two PFL world titles, US-born Kayla Harrison is sure to prove her skill set is outstanding. Meanwhile, Giuliana Pena is a veteran UFC veteran known for her offensive style and toughness, and is the current champion.
In preparation for the match, Harrison has been speaking out about the contrasts he can see between himself and Pena. In an interview with ESPN MMA, she said:
“I’m here to show the difference between good and great difference. I feel she’s a veteran of sports. She’s the ultimate fighter winner. She’s been around for a long time. She’s gritty. But we saw her lose. We saw the hole in her game.
Harrison also worked on Pena’s approach to combat, describing her as unpredictable and limited to her strengths. Olympic athletes outlined the only areas where Giuliana Penha has an advantage at UFC 316, she explained.
“She’s very unorthodox. She definitely likes to brawl, and I think it’s her only chance. Trying to make it a brawl.
