Tonight’s UFC Vegas 106 event was headlined by a welterweight match between Gilbert Burns and Michael Morales.
Burns (22-9 MMA) was in tonight’s contest in hopes of snapping a skid that lost three games. The previous UFC welterweight title challenger has been set up by Sean Brady, Jack Della Madalena and Beral Muhammad in his previous Octagon appearances. Before these setbacks, “Durinho” had consecutive victories over Jorge Masvidal and Neil Manny, respectively.
Meanwhile, Michael Morales (18-0 MMA) was trying to keep the perfect record in Las Vegas tonight. The fast-growing welterweight competitor, which was actually acted earlier this August, won a first-round TKO victory over UFC veteran Neil Manny. Before that finish, Ecuadorian standout featured the decision victory over Max Griffin and Jake Matthews.
Tonight’s UFC Vegas 106 main event was the Now appearance party and proved to be the still undefeated “Michael Morales.” The Ecuadorian powerhouse was able to make Gilbert Burns better with a strike from the opening horn, and eventually landing a powerful shot that “Durinho” was forced to jump into the takedown. Burns succeeded in that attempt, but it took Morales only seconds for him to return to his own leg, where he smashed the former title challenger with a ton of big shots. After a pair of knockdowns, Judge Herb Dean looked well and intervened to call the contest halt.
