Shy Gilgaus Alexander led the way head-on as his OKC Thunder secured a dominant victory in Game 7 against the Denver’s Nuggets.
He scored 35 points in the night and looked incredible as the team secured a 125-93 victory.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of MVP Frontrunner will face off against Minnesota Timberwolves of Anthony Edwards.
Both of these young stars met in the playoffs last year. On that occasion, the Timberwolves won the OKC Thunder.
But a year later, a lot will change and it will be interesting to see how these aspects match up in a game that can determine who will win the NBA Finals.
Shy is excited to stand up to stars like Edwards, but he is also bustling to meet someone very close to him in the Timberwolves when both sides face off.
Shy’s cousin, Nikkeil Alexander Walker, is a player who comes out of the T-wolf bench.
He is an integral part of the team and plays the minutes that are important to them.
The two have met several times before, which will be the most competitive between the two Canadian siblings.
Regarding facing Alexander-Walker, SGA said: “It’s going to be so much fun. It’s hard to explain.
“If you know how close we are, he’s literally my second brother. He goes through every stage of life with me, picks up basketball and prepares to go to the NBA. We went through every situation together.
“It’s special that we both have to compete against each other, but I’m certainly going to let his head go.”
The 2024-25 season was special for SGA on every account as they were able to do almost everything with the team.
After painful losses in the playoffs last year, he was finally able to lead them to the conference finals. This will be a tough test.
The winner of the MVP has not been announced yet, but SGA appears likely to be a prize, according to player votes.
His Thunderside finished as the top seed in the Western Conference and dominated his opponents throughout the regular season.
However, when you reach the final of a meeting, you need to put everything aside.
They beat the experienced Nuggets side and made it forward, but the Timberwolves will be a different team than they’ve seen in the playoffs.
The presence of players like Rudy Gobert and Julius Randle will be a team that has a stack of sizes, but Timberwolves also rely on Anthony Edwards, Mike Conley and Jaden McDaniels.
The SGA must be at his best as there are multiple players in Timberwolves who can protect him.
But the Canadians aren’t afraid of challenges, and they’ll stand up to whatever the Minnesota team throws at him.
