Just as Silverstone is approaching, Mark Marquez’s “mental hurdle” breakthrough

3 Min Read

When MotoGP comes down to Silverstone, it is allegedly violated a “mental hurdle” by Marc Marquez.

Factory Ducati Star Marquez lost a ton of points at Jerez when he fell from the Grand Prix, the second expensive crash in 2025.

However, he won a sprint at Le Mans, finishing runner-up at the Grand Prix, finishing his title rivals Alex Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia behind him.

Marquez’s psychological benefits could be demonstrated this weekend at Silverstone’s UK Motogup.

“Mark is a good speaker, he plays things,” Lewis Duncan told the Clash MotoGP podcast.

“Le Mans was a big moment for him. What happened at Jerez? Coming through such a tricky weekend with 20 points at the Grand Prix, his main rivals scored him a mental hurdle with both of them having nightmares.

“He knows that bikes are good. He knows he’s fast, but these mistakes creep up at the wrong time.

“Le Mans was the perfect place to make another of those mistakes, given the circumstances.

“Silverstone is the kind of circuit where riders make a difference. I feel this weekend that the best bike riders make a difference.

“This weekend he will turn the screws and stretch his legs.

“Mentally, Pecco has already lost this championship due to the comments he’s made. He’s not able to get what he wants from the bike and is down 51 points.

“He keeps repeating how Marquez can ride a tractor faster. He can’t. You’re waving a white flag when you admit that you can’t ride a bike problem the same way your teammates can.

“Alex Marquez is a crude campaigner. He tries to do everything he can to stay on the hunt, but basically he’s not there to win the championship this year.

“He wants to be a consistent front runner on that bike, which helps Mark like him.

“He can play more of the game and knows the weaknesses of his rivals.”

Marquez is again above the MotoGP rankings after his last time at Geres.

He has a 22 points buffer from his brother. He rides a Ducati machine from a year ago with Gresini.

He is 51 points ahead of his factory Ducati teammate Bagnaia.

Bagnaia scored more points than last season, but his lack of front-end sense left him unable to compete with the pace of consistency of Marquez, a garage rookie.
