In a double blow to the people of Midlands, Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone reportedly aimed to sign both Emiliano Martinez and another Aston Villa Ace this summer.
Simeone drives Martinez movements in Atletico Madrid
Amidst profit and sustainability (PSR) concerns, Aston Villa seemed likely to sell at least one Starman for a while. But for the last few months, that’s been a problem with whom.
Following an excellent season, Morgan Rodgers has found himself on headlines and Chelsea’s reported radar, but his importance at Villa Park may be too much to let go. Meanwhile, Ollie Watkins has also linked his move to Stamford Bridge with a move that strengthens his Champions League rivals.
In fact, Unai Emery should be desperate to hold both stars and lower Villa’s summer sales to another route. That’s where Martinez can come to amazingly. The 32-year-old appears to be saying goodbye to Villa Park in tears at his last home game on his side last Friday, and Emery has failed to eliminate the goalkeeper’s summer exit.
The Spaniard told reporters: “Of course it’s the last game here (this season) and I don’t know. We’ll see about the team, the players, but of course they’re responding on the field.”

In light of some rumors, Simeone personally hopes that Atletico Madrid will sign Martinez if Jan Oblak leaves the Spanish club this summer. The Laliga giants are not alone in Argentine’s signature race. Manchester United also reportedly are paying attention to the opportunity to use Aston Villa shot stoppers to solve Andre Onana’s problems.
However, if it’s Atletico Madrid, Aston Villa could lose two players to the Spaniard in the same summer, in reports that Simeone is also a fan of Emery’s male.
Atletico Madrid is turning his eyes to Valencaa
According to Catchoffside, Simeone hopes to sign Enzo Vallerecae with Martinez of Aston Villa this summer. The midfielder spent lending and renting out the campaign in Valencia, impressing many from the Midlands and sealing off a permanent move from the club just a year after its arrival.
Emery reportedly gave Aston Villa a green light to sell Valencaa this summer, despite being described as a “destroyer” by U23 scout Antonio Mango while being loaned out in Valencia this season.
As for all his possibilities, it would be an understandable sale as Aston Villa is about to navigate the PSR issue. Selling players who thrived on loan but may still struggle to break into Emery’s best side should move forward for the villain if they want to avoid financial difficulties this summer.
