UFC heavyweight kingpin John Jones has once again hinted at a longer break from this year’s action, admitting that it is unclear whether he has actually retired from combat sports.

Promotion’s current heavyweight champion Jones landed his third round spin kick since returning to action last November, beating the original two-time gold holder Stipe Miocic.

And since then, Tom Aspinall, a title unification paired with the interim champion, has grown incredibly big.

Booking the showcase from Atherton this year is currently on tours in Asia, as he claims he is “very confident” in writing the match this year, in a statement from UFC CEO Dana White.

I don’t know if John Jones is fighting in the UFC

John Jones, who did nothing to quell Aspinel’s concerns this week, spoke to the future of the fight on social media.

“I don’t know if I want to call you retired,” John Jones posted on Twitter. “I feel like I can always pop out and show EM. I have taken a lot of breaks throughout my career. My non-fighting identity is very unharmed. I really enjoy life. I’m growing in many ways.”

Jones’ comments lie behind all the claims from various fans. And he’s supposes to boot that he’s “ducking” a title showdown with British favourite Aspinel.

This has since been rejected by the number one pound for the previous pound, which he claimed was only living his best life.

After booting MIOCIC last year to win the boot, Jones claimed he would ask for “f*ck you” money to make another appearance in the promotion.

“He’s annoying me. He’s annoying me, and it’s my own personal – he’s annoying me. I think you guys are funny, but I don’t like him. He needs me and it’s a good place to join in negotiations.”
