According to report tonight, Yair Rodriguez, an indisputable featherweight championship rematch between Alexander Volkanovsky and the former interim gold holder, is currently on the UFC radar.
Volkanovski, who recovered the championship last month at UFC 314, made Diego Lopez’s competitive competitor, Diego Lopez, in an impressive unanimous decision, in a pair’s vacant title pairing held in Miami, Florida.
And the same card, former interim champion, Rodriguez snapped a skid who lost in the unanimous judging of former two-weight Bellator MMA champion Patricio Pitbull, a promotional rookie.
Alexander Volkanovsky was lined up at Yair Rodriguez Rematch
And according to Alvaro Kolmenello tonight, the promotion is currently targeting the rematch between Alexander Volkanovsky and Jaa Rodriguez, as Moversal Evroev is targeting his summer return in Abu Dhabi.
“I know the fact that the featherweight title fight is Volkanovski vs. Yair Rodriguez, as Evloev agrees to another fight,” Colmenero posted on X.
“Remember what Joe Lopez said a month ago with a laugh. He had already missed the birth of his daughter, but he didn’t want it to happen again,” Cormenello added. “But of course, other attractive options are already in November, or rather December. I think we’ll go more in the last month of the year.”
In his first fight at International Fight Week in 2023, Alexander Volkanovsky continued his first featherweight title reign and merged the title with a final third-round knockout victory over then-Internum champion Rodriguez.
That victory came as Volkanovsky’s final in featherweight limit before deciding on Brazilian fan favorite Lopez last month at Sunshine State.
