Tottenham Hotspur recently defeated Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final, but they are now trying to beat them in the Angel Gomez race.
The 24-year-old England International will become a free agent in a few weeks, and Tottenham hopes to sign him this summer.
Gomez has done very well at Losc Lille and he could prove to be a quality addition to the London Club. They need more creativity and control in the middle, and the 24-year-old adds just that. He has demonstrated his abilities in League One and is looking to mark the Premier League as well.
The former Manchester United Academy alumnus has also been linked to his return to his former club. However, TBR Football claims that Tottenham is confident in winning the race for him.
Tottenham can use Angel Gomez
James Madison hasn’t been consistent this season, and Tottenham needs more depth in that area of the pitch. Gomez was able to slot into multiple midfield roles and share the creative burden with Madison.
Meanwhile, Manchester United is overly dependent on Bruno Fernandez for creativity from the middle. Portugal International needs more support and Gomez is the ideal acquisition. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United can convince him to return to his childhood club.
Gomez makes a great addition
Signing a potential player on a free transfer is a master stroke for both clubs. It is still unclear who will be able to make the deal.
The player is only 24 years old and improves with coaching and experience. He was able to grow into a player on both teams. Gomez could be drawn to the idea of joining Tottenham this summer. They can offer him Champions League football, in contrast to Manchester United, who won’t compete in Europe next year.
