UFC veteran Joaquin Buckley is not a word-inscription, and he certainly did not hold back when he advised Cedriquez “SD” Dumas after Dumas’ 13th arrest since 2014.

“Your Life in Order”: Joaquin Buckley’s dull message after SD Dumas’ latest arrest

“When you’re working towards something like a world champion, don’t think it’s just training and fighting. You have to sort out your life.

Top ranked welterweight Joaquin Buckley did not sugarcoat the situation. “SD had to think about some of the things that have become transformed within himself and in his life. Still, you are on the biggest platform on the planet. Don’t waste that. In other words, the UFC is not a second (or 13th) chance business.

American-born Joaquin Buckley warned against the dangers of nostalgia because of his old habits. “You can’t live thinking you like the same old thing in the past. You can’t live that way, man.”

For Dumas, Buckley’s message was clear. The past is a great place to visit, but you can’t live there, especially if you’re in trouble. Buckley emphasized the need to change his surroundings. “You have to change the environment and change the people you wander with. If they are the people who expose you to it, it’s going to run away from (them). He wasn’t just talking the theory. He was talking from experience.

“I had to change the person hanging around, I had to see it, OK, I’m trying to make it here, who can I reach out to, who can I reach as a model? Do you need a mentor?

Buckley’s advice to SD Dumas was simple, but not easy. Keep your home organized, throw away any bad influences and don’t blow away any shots you have.
