Lewis Hamilton left behind a “sense of the sky” after taking on the F1 Monaco Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton acknowledges that “sense of the sky” remains following the challenging Formula One Monaco Grand Prix.

The seven-time world champion came in fifth place in Monaco.

After the fourth qualifying, his race became even more severe after receiving a third-place grid penalty for thwarting Max Verstappen.

Hamilton jumped Isaac Hajar and Fernando Alonso in the pit stop phase, but lost a significant amount of time in the traffic.

In the end, Hamilton finished nearly 50 seconds behind his teammate Charles Leclerc.

Speaking to French television after the race, Hamilton said:

“You’ll leave you a little low. Luckily there will be another race next week.”

Hamilton was also unhappy with the lack of a clear radio message from race engineer Riccardedami.

Hamilton made it clear he didn’t know what was going on during the race, declaring that “it was absolutely not clear.”

“No, that was absolutely not clear. I knew very little throughout most of the race,” he added.

Hamilton felt “very alone”

Hamilton’s indirect criticism of his race engineer continued another interview.

Hamilton said he “don’t know” what position he is or “when he’s going to push.”

“Of course I would like to say there’s nothing to take from it, but there’s always something that comes from the hard times like today,” explained Hamilton.

“We at least moved forward. Charles got the second best. I’m not sure why I lost that much pace. Mostly I didn’t know where I was in the race.

The entire race proved interesting with a very small number of overtakings.

Hamilton described the race in Monaco as the “most fun” of the season.

“It’s scary, it’s the most fun race of the year,” Hamilton concluded.

“That doesn’t matter. Even if you’re leading, it’s not fun yet. It’s a good thing in the end, but the actual race itself, the qualifying lap was great. The weekend was great, with amazing sights and fans, and you can’t wait for it all to end.

“It’s really, when you come across the line, you thank God, I can’t wait until next week.”
