The UFC released their first fight between Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley on YouTube ahead of their upcoming rematch at UFC 316. The move will build predictions for the Bantamweight Championship match scheduled for June 7, 2025 at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Their first meeting took place at UFC 306 in September 2024, marking the first combat sporting event in the Las Vegas territory. In that match, Georgian-born Merab Dvalishvili defeated O’Malley by unanimous decision, ending O’Malley’s reign as the champion, winning his own bantamweight title. Dvalishvili’s performance was characterized by sustained grappling control and effective ground work, and “Suga ‘Sean O’Malley was unable to perform any major attacks for the majority of the fight. The judges won the contests 49-46, 48-47, and 48-47 in favor of Dvalishvili.
Since winning the title, Dvalishvili has once defended his belt and defeated Umar Nurmagomedov in January 2025. Meanwhile, O’Malley hasn’t fought since losing his title to Dvalishvili. A rematch at UFC 316 gives O’Malley the opportunity to regain the championship and revenge his losses.
Leading to UFC 316, Dvalishvili revealed that he suffered a toe injury during training, but shows that he is still planning to compete on schedule. UFC 316 will also feature the women’s bantamweight title fight between Julian Napeña and Kayla Harrison as a joint main event. The release of the first Battle of Dvalishvili vs. O’Malley allows fans to revisit the first clash and set the stage for a high stakes rematch.

In the UK, UFC 316 will air on TNT Sports 1 starting at 3am on June 8th at BST, with qualifying rounds available on UFC Fight Pass from 11pm the previous day. This event can also be streamed via the TNT Sports app or through the Discovery+ Premium Service.
