With the NBA Draft coming in, some big teams may be considering trading up and down to meet roster needs.
The NBA Draft Lottery is very surprising, and some have suggested that the current state of the draft process has changed.
In the biggest lottery night jump in NBA history, the Dallas Mavericks landed their first overall pick despite only having a 1.4% chance.
The Spurs also made an astronomical jump and landed the second overall pick despite having mediocre odds. This marks the second top three pick in the last three seasons.
However, there is a lot of talk about the deals involving these first-round picks, as the NBA draft lottery serves as a boon or a bit of trouble for several NBA teams.

After the turbulence of Luka Doncic’s trade and subsequent fan backlash, it’s hard to see why Dallas Mavericks traded what was a gift from the NBA Gods.
But again, they would have even hoped they would consider dealing with Luka Donsic. Nico Harrison is a wild card. And despite reports that Gov. Patrick Dumont does not enjoy trade, Nico cannot be ruled out.
The Celtics have emerged as an outside bet to potentially trade for a pick, as there are works that can make Mavericks candidates under Nico’s timeline.

The San Antonio Spurs may choose to abandon their second overall pick for a decent package. Dylan Harper is a generational talent and an obvious choice. However, he raises the issue with the Spurs.
Harper is a security guard by drafting two spots the Spurs filled out in on Daron Fox Trade last season, and Stephon Castle, where Rookie of the Year was won.
Spurs can use picks in the package to land Giannis Anteto Compo. But they also have their 14th overall pick. They can use it to sweeten the Bucks deal.

Similarly, the 76ers may also choose to move their picks for the same reasons as the Spurs. After drafting the rise of Jared McCain and Tyrese Maxey for Superstarm, the 76ers have little use for players like VJ Edgecomb and Ace Bailey.
But there’s another reason. The 76ers offered Paul George a massive deal last year. They regretted it quickly.
By packaging the pick with George and trading with a reconstruction team with cap space, you can land the second option as Laurimalkanen and Kevin Durant are potential options.

You don’t have the right to be more upset with the NBA Draft lottery than the Wizard. After yet another heinous season, the Wizard missed a top five pick.
The wizard has a chatter about how they are trying to trade sixth picks to acquire as future assets and veteran players rebuild their culture.
It would be better to target the 2026 or 2027 NBA Draft classes.
Perhaps the team most likely to make a deal related to the pick is Brooklyn Net. Because they have four first round picks.
The net wanted the top three picks to begin rebuilding. But unfortunately they fell to the eighth pick in the lottery.
Luckily for them, they have some picks from this year’s draft and future drafts. The hope of landing Nets’ Spurs’ second overall pick could have been broken after the latest report.

The Houston Rockets are no longer a reconstruction team. After a 52-win season when they secured a second seed, the Rockets must be in Win-Now mode.
The big story surrounding the Rockets is Kevin Durant’s potential trade. They have the right assets and secured the Phoenix Suns draft pick in their net deal last year.
They were able to package the 10th overall pick, some cap fillers, and package future Sands picks in exchange for Durant building competing teams.
