The La Lakers legend welcomed the Warriors star as “Little Kevin Durant” before the 2014 MVP’s infamous move to Golden State

The former NBA champion claimed that the Golden State Warriors made Kevin Durant smaller in 2014.

The summer of 2016 is etched in the memories of most NBA fans for two main reasons. First, the Cleveland Cavaliers overcame a 3-1 deficit against the 73-9 Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.

Second, 2014 NBA MVP Kevin Durant shocked the world when he announced he was joining the Warriors to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Durant quickly became a fan favorite to one of the league’s most criticised players. But before KD’s infamous move to warriors, one NBA legend believed that Dub already had “a smaller Kevin Durant” on the roster.

Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is considered the greatest shooter of all time. Many believe that curry is one-on-one, and he cannot compare it to other stars.

After all, as Steph did during the rise to stardom in the 2010s, NBA players weren’t using the three-point shot.

Nevertheless, the late Los Angeles Lakers legend Jerry West, who was also an advisor to the Warriors in 2014, revealed that Curry’s game reminded him of Durant.

“He’s unique in many ways and he reminds me a bit of a little bit of a little Kevin Durant. He’s a lot of fun to watch,” West told Slam.

He added: “There are three or four players in the league that I pay to watch play. He’s one of them. Another thing I think people don’t notice is that he’s a great competitor.

“He was also really well raised by his parents. He’s very grounded. He’s honored to be around.”

West didn’t know that Curry and Durant would soon join forces, as Curry and Durant are one of the most dominant orchids of all time.

The Warriors had already won one NBA championship in 2015, but until Durant joined the team it was a truly unstoppable force in the league.

Durant stayed with Dub for three seasons, with the organization playing three straight NBA final runs.

As expected, the Warriors won back-to-back NBA titles in 2017 and 2018, with both Durant winning the NBA Finals MVP Awards.

Without the injured playoff run, Dove would have won the 2019 NBA Championship and completed three peats.
