It was definitely a successful season for Celtic.
On Saturday, Aberdeen was beaten with a penalty in the Scotland Cup final, with both Captain Calm McGregor and Alistair Johnston watching an attempt from 12 yards saved by Don’s Keeper Dimitau Mitoff in the shootout.
This was Brendan Rodgers’ first loss at Hampden, and Celts lost the Cup final for the first time since losing to Kilmarnock in the 2012 League Cup final, and of course he scored 15 before the weekend.
Despite this, there is still plenty to see supporters positive as the Bhoys won their fourth consecutive Premier title, the League Cup and reached the knockout phase of the Champions League.
Now, can they secure the service of a highly rated young winger?
Celtics are chasing a new wider direction
As reported by Ola Gustavsson of Swedish outlet Fotboll DiRekt, Celtic “is interested” in signing Oskar Fallenius.
Fallenius’ advanced breakthrough came with Brommapojkarna and won him a move to Brøndby, but he had little effect on the Danish Super Rigaen Giants, with just two goals in 13 appearances and 22 unused alternatives being hampered by ligament damage.
This led him to return to his hometown of Sweden, where he joined the Djurgårdens, which cost only £2 million, for around £1.55 million. He was certainly impressed.
So, can he move to Glasgow’s East End again?
How Oskar Fallenius compares to Jota
The Celt is certainly in multiple new advances this summer, following Jota’s Anterior Cruciate Ligament rupture, which suffered against Dundee United at Tannadis in April.
Hoops are a bit inferior to offensive options as Kyoto uruhashi was sold to Rennai in January and Luis Palma hopes to leave this summer forever.
Currently, Daizen Maeda, Adam Idah, Nicolas Kühn, Yang Hyun-Jun and youngster Johnny Kenny are the only players competing for front three positions.
So Rodgers wants more firepower than Rodgers can have at his disposal, especially in the Champions League playoffs, which are important towards the end of August.
Since returning to the club in January, Jota had been in the form of a decent scorer before his injury.
He grabbed targets from the bench just 25 minutes after 25 minutes with Motherwell at Far Park, earning five goals and two assists in just 16 appearances overall.
So how does he compare with his potential alternative Fallenius?

As the table outlines, in roughly the same minutes, the statistics for Jota and Fallenius are almost similar.
The Portuguese winger has an advantage when it comes to goals when shooting accuracy and touches around 90 and passing, while the younger Swedes recorded another assist and a slightly higher take-on success rate.
Djurgårdens manager Jani Honkavaara believes Fallenius owns “The X-Factor,” and Guardian Marcus Christenson has labelled him as one of the key attackers in Blue Stripes.
So, the 23-year-old is clearly positive with many possibilities, and he has become an excellent low-cost option for Celtic this summer.
