Red Bull said “They still have the wrong driver.”

Sky F1 commentator David Croft believes Red Bull still has the “wrong driver” after Yuki Tsunoda got off to a tough start with his team.

After just two races, Red Bull traded Liam Lawson for Horneda.

The Tsunoda was a minor Lawson upgrade, but Japanese drivers are struggling to match Max Verstappen’s pace.

As a result, Red Bull can be set to fourth in this year’s Formula One Constructors Championship.

There will be just five points before Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari heading to the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend.

Speaking about the latest episode of the Sky F1 Podcast, Croft feels that Red Bull will regret not signing Sainz.

“Personally, I think they still have the wrong drivers. If they want to win the Constructors Championship, I want to get enough drivers,” Croft said.

“And Yuki may not be able to make it in time, I don’t think he proved it. Well, they should have had the Carlos sign, but for some reason, it didn’t happen.

“Carlos Sainz was the driver available for next year’s market. Who are you looking for in the future, even if you don’t have Carlos Sainz now?

“Lando has been locked up in a long-term contract. George Russell is short on contracts at the end of the year. It’s an interesting combo and we can talk to you.

“And I don’t think there’s any hostility between George and Max. They’re fiercely competitive people who don’t always look to the truck.

“But that’s the driver caliber they have to get. And I don’t have a downer on Yuki, trust me.

“But is he a consistent podium finish or race winner? Look at the statistics. No, he’s not.

“Want to be the Constructors champion? Yes.

Is the next one in the Isack Hadjar?

Isack Hadjar is one of the revelations of the 2025 F1 season so far.

Hager responded well to his set-up in Australia, where he crashed on the formation lap.

The Frenchman has been outclassing Lawson since returning to the Racing Bulls.

His form is so impressive that Damon Hill labeled him as the biggest surprise of the year.

Hadjar’s form will undoubtedly catch the interest of senior management at Red Bull.
