Boxing star Jake Paul makes big moves in the ongoing war with the UFC

Jake Paul has been at war with the UFC for years, and his latest move on MMA promotion could be huge.

Jake Paul, UFC 317, MMA

Paul, 28, got his start as a YouTuber and Disney star, but recently became one of boxing’s biggest stars. His stardom may not be on par with the actual world championships, but he wins a new victory from the decision victory over legendary Mike Tyson and tries to raise the ladder once more on June 28th against Giulio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Of course, June 28 is already set to be a big night of combat sports. It’s the same night as UFC 317. This will be headlined by the huge lightweight title fight between Charles Oliveira and Ilia Topria.

Most fight fans will agree on paper that the UFC offering is a much more appealing fight card than the Paul vs Chavez event. However, UFC cards have become extremely expensive in recent years, and Paul, his own fight promoter, has ensured fans have a more affordable option.

The UFC 317 costs $79.99. His fight with Chavez is $20 cheaper at $59.99.

This may seem like a coincidence to some fans, but don’t forget that Paul is one of the most intense critics in the UFC in recent years. His biggest complaint was how little MMA promotions pay for fighters, but he had far more.

What does Jake Paul have against the UFC?

“MMA isn’t that. That’s the truth behind the problem,” Paul told all smoke. “Boxing is bigger than ever. Boxing was the biggest sporting event of 2024, but MMA is essentially becoming a Steyer version of boxing.

“It’s kickboxing, because everyone has a good takedown defense and everyone in Jiu-Jitsu is a black belt,” Paul added. “So there’s no more submissions. Really, there aren’t many takedowns, even if it’s boring. But everyone is good at takingdown defenses.

“Do you think MMA is the biggest star in the sport? Alex Pereira is a kickboxer because he’s all knocked out somehow, somehow, somehow, somehow.

“The UFC doesn’t really matter every round. It’s a five-minute round. So boxing is from the 1500s (about): 500, 600 years of boxing.

So, what is that, will you fight the fans? Are you buying UFC 317, Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., or both?
