ESPN experts say the Boston Celtics could become a team to watch Giannis Anteto Compo

NBA analysts are debating whether the Boston Celtics should trade for the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Anteto compo in the offseason.

Before the 2024-25 NBA season began, the Boston Celtics were a team of fear as they were the league’s defending champions.

Because of its value, the Celtics finished as the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a 61-21 record. However, as they struggled with their second exit, things were heading south for C to get to playoff time.

Heading into the offseason, there’s a serious conversation about whether the Celtics should blast their current roster and get a famous superstar to start off with a fresh slate.

For now, the Celtics have one of the NBA’s most expensive rosters, and if new ownership wants to keep the core intact, the costs will only rise.

With that in mind, if the Celtics decide to split things up, NBA analyst Jay Williams think they should trade for Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetocomo, who is rumoured to say goodbye to the team this offseason.

“There’s one team that has been experiencing a gap year and an improvement that could be interesting. There’s the Boston Celtics,” Williams began with ESPN’s first take.

“Jaylen Brown? Jason Tatum? Perhaps it’s on Jaylen Brown’s side because of his versatility and how he plays, so what salary can he maintain, and (Christaps) Porzingis grows, gets older, gets older, gets older.

Williams concluded by saying, “Boston is in that sweet spot, at least in my opinion.”

Many teams have been named as the next destination for Greek freaks, but the Celtics have not been talked about as well.

Jason Tatum suffered a severe, ruptured Achilles tendon injury in the second round against the New York Knicks. He could miss the entire 2025-26 NBA season.

That said, Williams co-host Brian Windhorst believes Tatum’s injury will play a role in the Celtics’ pursuit of Antetocomo.

“Before the catastrophic damage to Tatum, I thought Boston was even more interesting,” Windhorst said. “I don’t know what I’ll get from Tatum next year. Before that, I thought it was a real conversation, but still, I think it was.”

There’s no doubt that Tatum is one of the most talented stars in the league right now. But serious injuries can have prolonged effects even for young superstars like him.

So, as Windy said, Tatum’s recovery will be key to the Celtics who will either all-in for Giannis or stick to their current core.
