Liverpool is holding preliminary talks to sign Kubo, £50 million
According to a Spanish report, Liverpool is currently in the lead up to preliminary talks for Takefusa Kubo after Wirtz and still managed to sign Real Sociedad Winger. Again, none of the transactions are cheap. Japan International reportedly has a release clause worth 60 million euros (£50 million) despite enduring a difficult season at Sociedad.
Whether Liverpool decides to trigger that release clause is a major issue. After scoring seven goals and creating five more in the final campaign, many were hoping to push and improve these numbers this season. However, the winger achieved seven goals again and created one with four assists, which did not prove to be the case.
Football talent scout Jacek Kulig described Kubo’s 2023/24 campaign as “fantastic” as he scored three goals in four games, but the 23-year-old struggles to rediscover such a clinical form.
If Liverpool replaces Mohamed Salah when his contract ends two years later, they may need a player who is consistently involved with 12 or more goals throughout the season.
