Paris – Stefanos Tsitsipas has appointed Goran Ivanisevic as his new coach.

Former French open finalist Tsitsipas was his second loss to qualifying Matteo Gigante at Roland Garros on Wednesday as the 26-year-old Greek player since 2018 left Paris the earliest departure.

Having won two total matches in the last four Grand Slams, Tsitsipas has relied on former coach Novak Djokovic to turn his fortune around.

“This exciting collaboration will be just in time for the 2025 grass court season as the Greek star appears to improve his performance on one of the sport’s most prestigious surfaces,” said Tsitsipas in a statement posted on Instagram.

Ivanisevic helped Jjokovic claim nine of his 24 Grand Slam titles before leaving the team in March 2024, and got a short stint with Elena Rybakina this season.

The Croatian, who won Wimbledon as a player in 2001, coaches Marin Silick, Thomas Berdic and Milos Raonick.

Tsitsipas was once considered the future major champion, but will fall outside the top 20 for the first time since 2018.

Wimbledon will begin on June 30th.
