David Moet’s return may have brought a smile to the Everton Football Club, but it’s fair to say that Merseyside’s shining light remains a certain Iliman Ndiai and that the Senegalese star enjoys a dazzling debut campaign at the club.
In mostly Workman-like outfits, the 25-year-old is definitely a different maker, regularly pop-ups magical moments, including breathtaking braces during last month’s emotional Goodison Park send-off.
The way the former Marseille man can run through the sea of defenders is truly an eye-opener, and athletic Jordan Campbell realized earlier in the season that he is the type of player who can “change the whole mood” at the club.
With a bright future at Dickinson Stadium on the hill, the £15 million signature should certainly be a centrepiece for the new Moet era. In the same memo, similar ILK signatures should definitely be on the agenda this summer.
Latest on Everton’s new signature search
The end of the Premier League season has sparked a massive amount of Exodus from the club, with changes going on on the blue side of Merseyside, where Ashley Young, Joan Virginia and Abduidou Kulee and others are set to leave at the expiration of their contracts.
The sea of departure was back to the parent club, with Jack Harrison, Jesper Lindstrom, Orel Mangala and Armando Bruya, among others, at the end of their respective loan moves.
Another exciting capture could be followed over the coming weeks following the deal to sign the South American starlet, with the Daily Mail suggesting that Toffee took the first step to sign James McAtee in Manchester City and “checked” him.
Reports show that both Nottingham Forest and West Ham United are keeping an eye on the promising British, but the Bundesliga side is also interested.
The 22-year-old, who is reportedly holding a price tag of £25 million, appears to be destined to leave Etihad amid lack of game time. As was for Ndiaye, Merseyside could be the perfect home this summer.
Why Everton needs to sign James McAtee
Everton didn’t take too much risk with Ndiaye, but considering the forward’s reasonable £15 million price tag, the deal presented gambling earlier considering his difficult stint at Marseille, but he scored just four times in 46 games in the Rig 1 outfit.
In fact, Toffey rediscovered the 24-year-old form he introduced before the 2023 Switch, lighted up the championship against Sheffield United, registering 36 goals and assisting for the blade in 88 games, making it mostly to banks.
To the delight of all of Goodison, these heroes have been recreated in Everton shirts, with Ndiaye finishing 2024/25 with 11 goals in all competitions, surpassing Beto on the club’s scoring charts.
There’s more to that gambling than rewarded, so why Makaty’s plumpness could earn a similar reward, and the England U21 International also shined between two loan spells at Sheffield.
In fact, between 2022 and 2024, Silky Playmaker registered 22 goals and assists in 75 matches at Bramall Lane, earning nine goals and three assists in the 2022/23 Championship. Lined up on the same side, Ndiaye provided 14 goals and 11 assists that season.

McAtee, described as a “special player” by Pep Guardiola returning to Manchester, had to bid with the citizens while registering seven goals from nine starts in every tournament this season.
Makaty’s quality, which was previously compared to Arsenal captain Martin Odegard, is also a complex left-foot playmaker that can be manipulated from the center or right side on the right flank, Pandit Karl Asaba said:
“He’s a bonus player in terms of playing midfield and you have an extra number there, but he can just attack.
“He’s like Odegard. You play him in the middle so he’s protecting for you. He’s another body they’re trying to try, but he likes a 30-yard ball because he can pass you by so you’re not there.”
That portrait certainly portends a good foreshadowing of the impact he can make if given consistent game time at the Premier League level, and Toffee hopes he can follow in Ndiaye’s footsteps by shining on top flights.
