Shannon Sharp believes La Lakers could soon lose one of their key players and important assets.
It was clear that it was a few big moves as the team has a roster that includes the championship after the La Lakers lost their first round to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Rob Perinka made it clear that the offseason goal is to add something big, and they have since linked with a small number of players.
However, purple and gold do not have the assets needed to trade with big players.
Austin Reaves is one player who has improved every year since joining the NBA, jumping this season, bringing 20 points per game scorer.
The Reaves have set up several Lakers records in their performances this season.
However, Shannon Sharp believes the Lakers could end up losing Reeves’ services due to his contract situation.
The Reaves signed a four-year, $54 million contract with the Lakers, despite being able to earn more money elsewhere.
However, after proving that he can become a reliable option, the team may once again test Reeves’ loyalty by offering him a massive contract.
Sharp believes the 27-year-old will choose a team that pays him more, as the Lakers couldn’t provide it to him.
“The Lakers can pay him that much. You’re going somewhere anyway and getting a big payday. You’re not trying to be with the Lakers when you get $200 million.
“Yeah, he’s improved every year. He’s a player hell.”
The Reaves averaged 20 points and 5.8 assists in the regular season for the Lakers.
But Sharp said the Lakers can’t win anything alongside LeBron James, Luka Donsic and Reeves.
“But these three are not going to win anything. Now, I’m not saying you have to package him, but they need a big deal. He’s the only valuable piece they have,” he added.
Reaves has leveled up in all categories since entering the NBA as an undrafted player.
Dan Wookieek of the LA Times revealed that they will only trade the Raves if the Lakers can add something big and big to their roster.
His first extension helped the Lakers sign an even more free agent, but it’s unlikely that Reaves will join on another team-friendly deal.
He is in Prime and is one of the only tradeable assets on the roster.
James and Reeves share a great relationship throughout his stint in LA, and the players have done more than people expected from him.
With potential targets like Naz Reid and Nikola Vucevic, the Lakers could be tempted to hand out Reaves.
