Newcastle is in store for a busy summer, and after returning to the Champions League for the 2025-26 season, some important signatures may be added to Eddie Howe’s team. And in addition to this, there will be changes to the backroom.
Earlier this week, Newcastle announced that sports director Paul Mitchell would leave his post after being responsive for less than 12 months. The reason for this shocking decision is unknown at this stage, but there was a belief that it was influenced by Darren Ales, who brought the former northeast as Monacoman.
It was revealed that Eales would be leaving Newcastle last September after being diagnosed with chronic blood cancer. He left with Mitchell this summer, and due to his position as CEO, the club is looking for a successor.
Newcastle turns to Man United to try to replace Paul Mitchell
And according to the Daily Mail (via Geordie Boot Boys), the process is nearing conclusive. Newcastle is planning to announce a Yale replacement soon, and he could come from Man United.
Colette Roche, now Man United’s COO, is believed to have applied for the position of CEO of Newcastle, and she is considered Iles’ preferred choice to take over him at St. James Park. However, she faced competition from many others, and the club reportedly saw the American market as well.
It is still unknown that Newcastle has appointed its next CEO. Fans are intrigued, but their focus will mainly be on players signed this summer.
