Mark Marquez revealed that tweaks to the preseason training program helped strengthen Saturday’s form at MotoGP 2025.
The factory Ducati riders have launched their 2025 campaign strong as they lead the championship 24 points after the opening three rounds.
The greatest strength of Mark Marquez in 2025, the three Grand Prix winner so far, was his form on Saturday.
Marquez scored six consecutive sprints from the season opener in Thailand to the French Grand Prix weekend, finishing second in the half-distance race at the British Grand Prix last weekend.
This year he only scored more than nine points than Alex Marquez in the Grand Prix, but he scored another 15 points in the sprint.
Mark Marquez’s qualifying record is also solid, with the Ducati riders in the front row of everything except the British Grand Prix.
During the French Grand Prix, Marquez spoke about changing his offseason training to prepare for Saturdays over the race weekend.
Asked about this during the British Grand Prix, he revealed that he worked more on the attacks of time during his winter training to help with “weaknesses.”
“Usually, when you’re training at home, you don’t want to crash your training bike, so you don’t do time attacks.
“Just aside, you usually train with used tires, rhythms, long runs, and more.
“I changed my training plan a bit to work on my weaknesses.”
Marquez was seen spending a lot of his time during the winter riding a Ducati Panigal V2 on the Spanish Aspar Circuit as part of his training.
The Ducati rider left the British Grand Prix with a third-place finish, turning Franco Morbidelli a little in his thrilling final battle.
Marquez crashed on the second lap of the British Grand Prix, but was saved by a red flag due to an oil spill following a collision between Alex Espargaro and Morbidelli.
The next round of the campaign will take place in Aragon from June 6-8, with Marquez hoping to repeat the Paul/Sprint/Grand Prix hat trick when he was at Ducati run by Grecini from 2024 a year ago.
