Experienced racing official and third generation jockey Baley Hare was appointed racing secretary at Ellis Park. He takes over Dumbolk and he moves into the same role Colonial DownsChurchill Downs Properties, Virginia.
Hare has spent over a decade in various Kentucky racing office roles and has a consistent presence with the CDI property racing team. Hare, originally from Illinois, grew up in the industry along with his father Scott, a former jockey and longtime jockey agent, and former trainer Darcy. Before working in the Kentucky racing office, Hare was a racing representative in Louisiana and Texas.
“We would like to thank the opportunity and thank the team for their confidence. “Ellis Park has always held special locations at Kentucky Racing, and building on strong year-round racing products across the state is exciting.”
In addition to his new role at Ellis Park, Hare will continue his role at Churchill Downs, where he will serve as Judge Paddock and Racing officials at the Spring, September and Fall Conventions.
“Bayley has worked so hard to get to this position,” said Ben Huffman, Churchill Downs’ vice president of racing. “He has the respect of jockeys and officials and I am sure he will do an incredible job leading the racing office in Ellis Park.”
Bolk, who has been racing secretary at Ellis Park since 2006, praised Hare for his growth and preparation for his position.
“I will not leave this position in anyone else’s hands other than Bailey,” Bolk said. “Over the past few years we have been closely working on managing entries and coordinating our daily racing operations, with both Ellis Park and Colonial Downs operating as top-notch summer circuits.
Hare will release the Ellis Park Condition Book in the coming days of the summer season, which begins on July 3rd.
