Leeds United are reportedly investigating the possibility of signing Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, white people have identified Pope as a potential summer transfer target as part of their efforts to strengthen Squad’s key areas.

Having secured promotion from the championship, Leeds decided to avoid another short stint on the top flight, and strengthening the goalkeeper position emerged as one of their top priorities, especially after Iran Mesurier’s poor performance.

Leeds United are trying to add more quality

With manager Daniel Fark eager to create a solid spine for his team, an experienced and proven Premier League goalkeeper like the Pope could be a significant addition.

The Pope has been the first choice goalkeeper since his arrival from Burnley in 2022.

However, his future at St. James Park is uncertain as Newcastle continues to pursue Burnley’s highly acclaimed shot stopper James Trafford.

Magpies initially agreed to introduce Trafford last August, but this summer, the successful move of the young English goalkeeper paved the way for Pope’s exit.

Despite having a contract until June 2026, if Newcastle secures a track code and focuses on long-term reconstruction, the Pope could be considered a surplus in the requirements.

The Pope brings not only top-level experience but also international pedigree. His commanding presence, shot stopping ability and Premier League know-how will be ideal for newly promoted aspects, aiming to establish themselves in the division.

Potential transactions will depend on both Newcastle’s movement in the transfer market and Leeds’ economic flexibility.

Leeds is also interested in the moves of Manchester City star James McAtee this summer.
