Arsenal midfielder Gorguinho is scheduled to complete his move from the North London Club later this week.
According to a report from Globo Esporte, he will pop out on Thursday night to complete his move to Brazil’s club Flamengo.
The 33-year-old midfielder has decided to close his contract with Arsenal early as he wants to compete with them at the Club World Cup. He would have finished his contract at the end of this month. Jorginho has given up on wages of around £500,000 to close the transaction early.
The player will take part in the South American outfit on a free transfer, but it remains to be seen whether he will be able to make an immediate impact. He is a useful player for Arsenal and it will be interesting to see if the gunner can properly replace him.
Arsenal needs midfield depth
Next season, we will need more quality and depth in the middle of the park. They are linked to the movement of Martin Zubimendi, and the Spanish International could be the ideal alternative for Italians.
Jorgionho is in the Twilight stage of his career, and this is the right time for him to try new challenges. He’s not a regular Arsenal starter and sitting on the London Club bench would not have been ideal for him next season. He could potentially have more opportunities at the Brazilian club next season.
Jorginho must be a quality addition
He is on the Twilight stage of his career, but has the technical attributes, experience and leadership qualities to help Flamengo improve. He was able to prove that he was a valuable addition to the dressing room.
The players have proven themselves in Italy and the UK. It remains to be seen whether he can make his mark in South American football now.
