The $500,000 Jaipur Stakes on Saturday’s Saratoga Race Course will award the “Victory and You” berth to the November 1st Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint. It’s a grade 1 prize of 5 year old filly #9 AG Bullet (7-2) There are all opportunities to argue, even in the face of male rivals.
Jaipur is a turf sprint held at 5 1/2 furlong (1 mile 11/16), and the composition is perfect for AG bullets. She enters Jaipur from four consecutive defeats, but the situation is expanding, most including racial distance.
The Ag Bullet has the best sprints between 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 furlongs (13/16th mile) on the grass. She won four of her five race starts in this configuration. Most notably, the Kentucky Downs 6 1/2 furlong, Grade 2 Exacta Systems Women’s Ladies Starf Sprint Stakes have been cancelled for 5 1/4 lengths.
Longer and shorter distances are not ideal. AG Bullet tried to extend to a mile for the Grade 1 First Ladies Takes presented by the UK Healthcare and Grade 1 Patriarch’s stake last fall, but she was tired after setting the pace in both races, finishing fourth and third, respectively. Meanwhile, she discovered that eight-fifths of a mile was too short in the Breeders’ Cup grass sprint. After settling in the middle, she came together to finish third on the neck.
Her only loss of AG Bullet in her ideal distance range took place in the unequipped Sydney Stakes of 5 1/2 furlongs announced by Cygames of Churchill Downs on May 2. Starting her first start with a five-month break, Ag Bullet appeared poised for a challenge with her home stretch, but she cut off the narrow opening along the inside, trying to close. After that, she had no clear path, so her seventh place finish could be forgiven.
By drawing No. 9 after the position in the 10-horse field in Jaipur, AG Bullet should be able to solve clean, traffic-free travel under the 2024 Eclipse Award-winning jockey Flavieen Prat. An uninterrupted journey at an ideal distance must be what every AG bullet needs to seek victory.
Whether you bet $12, $30, or another amount, we recommend winning the AG bullet. You should also consider playing her #2 I think it’s big (6-5) Accurate, you need to select the top two finishers in order.
Think Big appears on the grass 4-4, with Valvoline Global Shakertown Stakes and Twin Spiers Turf Sprint Stakes, by throwing Kentucky’s 5 1/2 furlongs in a dashing and dashing throw. He is improving rapidly, but there may still be more benefits.
