US Solheim Cup captain Angela Stanford has named major champion Brittany Lang as the third assistant captain of next year’s Solheim Cup at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands on Tuesday.

Lang, 39, who counts the 2016 US Women’s Open among two LPGA Tour titles, joins Stanford and fellow assistants Kristy McPherson and Paula Creamer, leading a group of top 12 American female golfers facing Europe at the Biennial team event.

“This is probably one of the best honors I’ve had in my career. I’m excited to learn, help and experience the atmosphere as an assistant captain,” Lang said.

Lang represented the US to the US Solheim Cup team in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017, and his four-ball partnership with Brittany Lincicome was the most successful on either side of the event’s history, making it a perfect 4-0-0.

“The traits that always impressed me the most about Brittany are her confidence and attitude,” Stanford said. “If Lang has ever been rattle, you’ll never know.”

The US regained the Solheim Cup in Gainesville, Virginia in September, stopping Europe from winning the trophy for the fourth consecutive unprecedented.

The Solheim Cup will be held on September 11-13, 2026 when the US bid for its first road victory since 2015.
