The summer transfer window will officially open for business on Sunday, with the Celts looking at ways they can improve their team ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Brendan Rogers may have domestic highs in his vision after winning the Scottish Premiership and League Cup, and after his team finishes with two of the three trophies.
The Northern Ireland head coach will be signing at least one of the buildings by the beginning of next month, but Kieran Tierney is expected to arrive from Arsenal on a free transfer when his contract with the Emirates expires.
Once Greg Taylor finishes his contract and Jeffrey Schulp’s loan deal expires, Scotland International is the only left-back in the club’s book heading for next season.
Not only will new signatures arrive to improve the team, but Rodgers hopes that some of the younger players on the team can kick and improve.
Hyun Joo-yang has shown many promises in his two years at Parkhead so far, and progress from his first to second year suggests that a big third season could come.
Why Hyun Jooyang could become a Celtic star
The Korean attacker joined the Scottish giant from Gangwon on a permanent contract in the summer of 2023, not enjoying Glasgow’s best first year.
Yang returned one goal in all the club’s tournaments, finishing the 2023/24 campaign with one goal and three assists in 31 appearances.
However, the term produced six goals and six assists in 34 matches for the Scottish Premiership Championship in all competitions, while the 23-year-old star played on the right and left flanks.
These statistics show that Jann improved in his time at Parkhead and learned more experience in Scottish football, which is further explained by differences in his performance on top flights.
Hyun Jang Yang (Premiership) | 23/24 | 24/25 |

Conversion rate | 5% | twenty five% |
Lost possessions per game | 9.8x | 6.8x |

As you can see from the table above, the Korean star was more reliable in Celtic’s build-up play by supplying more quality in front of the goal and making the ball more efficient.
Gang Wong President Kim Byung-ji claimed that he could “be a world-class player like his son Heung-min.” Prior to the winger’s move to Scotland.
Yang is not at a world class level yet, but he has clearly improved, and Celtic is reportedly interested in signing players who can now help take the game of the future to the next level.
Celtic bids to sign English star
According to the world of football leagues, Celtic has taken the approach to signing Peterborough United’s left back Harley Mills during the summer transfer period.
The report claims that Hoop has announced a bid to sign the 19-year-old defender from the English League One Club, but it remains to be seen whether Posh is willing to accept it.
Fulham on the Premier League side added that he made a £1 million offer to the impressive young fullback.
The world of football leagues adds that he will only join the cottage as an under-23 player to strengthen the academy, but Hoop is looking for a player to compete with Tierney.
Meanwhile, Peterborough also aims to lock players into a new contract, and it may be up to the player to decide which pass best for him to move forward.
However, if Celtic could win the Mills race, they could sign a left-back that could help Yang meet his potential at Parkhead in the coming years.
Why Mills could be a great signature for Yang
At 19, the Peterborough United star has arrived at Parkhead as a long-term signature that can be the left-back of his first choice for years to come.
This means that if Rodgers chooses to place South Korea forward on the left wing, he and Yang can form a long-term partnership in the left flank, providing the opportunity to cut the inside into a strong foot, rather than being forced to the line or backward when on the right.
Mills only appeared as a regular starter for Posh towards the end of the 2024/25 campaign, but his performance in the EFL Trophy and League One suggest that he could be a great option for the Celts.
The teen star’s “stellar” free kick at Wembley helped Peterborough win the EFL trophy in April, but he also averaged 3.2 tackles and intercepts per game in six appearances in the competitive.
His form in League One is only in 11 games, but it suggests he can offer his team a lot more from a defensive standpoint than Taylor, who can leave the free transfer this summer.
24/25 season | Greg Taylor (Premiership) | Harley Mills (League One) |
---|---|---|
exterior | 28 | 11 |
Tackle for each game | 1.3 | 2.2 |
Intercepts by game | 0.6 | 1.0 |
Clearances for each game | 1.9 | 2.5 |
Error led to a shot or goal | 2 | 0 |
Success rate for ground dueling | 58% | 65% |
Success rate for air duel | 43% | 57% |

As you can see in the table above, Mills appears to be better than Scotland’s left-back, but as an out and out defender, he increases tackles, intercepts and clearances per game, but gets stronger in the Doere without making any major mistakes.
This suggests that the £1 million rated star can come in and close the left-back position as a great defender who can stop the opposition winger from pushing Celtic back in the match.
Not only can the hoop be improved from a defensive standpoint, but it can also free Yang to outperform the left field pitch and approach the opposition’s goals.
If the Korean star is unfolded to the left, then there’s no need to track that much if the Celts have a much better fullback behind him instead of Taylor.
