Borussia Dortmund has made significant progress in their bid this summer to sign Jobe Bellingham.
The teenager (19) attracted serious attention from the Bundesliga after being constantly present with a successful push to the 2024/25 Premier League promotion.
Eintracht Frankfurt was following the midfielder ahead of his summer transfer period. However, it is now understood that the footballer has agreed to a move to Dortmund.
In doing so, Bellingham, linked to Manchester United, will miss out on guarantees for his season with the Black Cats in the Premier League.
Jobe Bellingham says yes to Dortmund
Jobe Bellingham rejected Frankfurt’s progress.
The British sees a great opportunity to create their own name on the German international stage, as his brother did before him.
Dortmund has already notified players that they can join their team for the Club World Cup campaign in the US.
However, talks are still being held between BVB and Sunderland. Bellingham has a release clause in its contract of approximately 40 million euros (£33.7 million). Dortmund will only pay 30 million euros (£25.3 million), so there will be negotiations between the clubs.
Anyway, Jobe is committed to Dortmund.
Following the Jude Bellingham route
Bellingham is now planning to follow in the footsteps of his brother Jude.
The current Real Madrid man left BVB in the summer of 2023, with the Los Blancos secured a signing of a mammoth of 103 million euros (£88.5 million).
Meanwhile, the younger brother of England International traded his life with Birmingham City for fellow Championship costume Sunderland.
Jobe Bellingham registered seven goal contributions in 43 appearances (in all competitions) in the 2024/25 season.
Interestingly, this is roughly the same rate as Jude Bellingham (6 goal contributions in 44 games) before the move from Birmingham to Dortmund.
season | The game has been played | The contribution of goals |
2019/20 | 44 | 6 |
2020/21 | 46 | 8 |
2021/22 | 44 | 20 |
2022/23 | 42 | twenty one |

It’s too early to say whether the 19-year-old can reflect the sibling’s incredible developmental curve in Germany.
However, if Bellingham is destined to reach a similarly large individual height, Dortmund will have another highly profitable talent in their books.
The exciting move for Dortmund and Bundesliga, despite undermining the Premier League club associated with Jobe Bellingham.
